Our Founder and President, Dr. John C. McKeeman
John graduated from Virginia Tech in 1980 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. Then he served our nation as a satellite signal analyst in the Foreign Technology Division of the Air Force. While on active duty he earned an MS in Electrical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Dayton.
In 1984, he left active duty and became an Air Force reservist where he served for 22 years, holding leadership positions at Air Force Systems Command, the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force and the Air Force Research Laboratory. He retired as Colonel in 2006 with 26 years of service. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, an Air Force Commendation Medal, and an Air Force Achievement Medal.
After his military service concluded, John became an Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech’s Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering from 1984 to 1991. He taught graduate and undergraduate classes in microprocessor system design, communications systems, and coding theory. His research focused on real-time embedded systems that track and analyze satellite signals during precipitation. He earned tenure and a promotion to Associate Professor in 1991 before leaving academia to pursue a career at IBM. From 1991 to 1997, IBM employed John as an embedded systems engineer. He co-developed PowerPC embedded platforms with engineers from Ford, Apple, and Corning, and received 17 awards during his time at IBM, including the prestigious Outstanding Top Contributor Award in 1994. John has authored more than 50 publications and holds one patent for the programmable on-focal plane signal processor.
In 1997, John branched out on his own to independently contract commercial, military, and academic clients in need of rapid prototype designs for embedded systems. Today, he continues to oversee each project from start to finish, leading our team of engineers to provide our clients with the best solutions to meet their unique needs. John’s many years of experience, combined with his education and passion for his craft, make him one of the most reliable and sought-after leaders in the industry.
